Why should this nominee be considered for the Broyles Award?
In his first season on staff, Cody Kennedy has transformed the Arkansas offensive line into a force that has rushed for 2194 yards through the team’s first nine games. To make the progression with the OL even more impressive, Kennedy did not take over coaching the offensive line until June after originally joining the Razorbacks as the team’s tight ends coach.
Coach's Past Performance
At Tulane, Kennedy served as the Green Wave’s offensive line coach helping the Wave score 32 rushing touchdowns in 2020 – seventh-most in the nation – and rank 17th nationally while leading the American Athletic Conference for the second straight year with 217.1 yards rushing per game. His 2019 Tulane OL paved the way for a school record 3,162 yards rushing.
Team Record and Standings
7-3, 3-3 SEC Arkansas reached as high as No. 8 in the AP Poll earlier this season, the team’s highest ranking since 2012.
Team/Unit Stats
Arkansas leads the SEC and ranks fourth nationally in rushing yards per game with 243.8 yards as of Nov. 8. The Razorbacks have four players with 400+ yards rushing for the first time since 1975 with three regular season games plus a bowl game left on the schedule.
Individual Player Stats
Center Ricky Stromberg was named SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week after the Razorbacks ran for 269 yards in a win over Georgia Southern. Stromberg is also on the Rimington Watch List – awarded to the nation’s top center.
