Why should this nominee be considered for the Broyles Award?
In Bloesch’s first season in Denton, UNT has seen marked improvement on the OL, and through six games have allowed seven sacks (1.17 per game), which ranks 22nd nationally (last season ranked 74th). The Mean Green offense ranks fifth in the nation at 559.5 yards per game and the rushing attack is seventh in FBS (257.3 yards per game).
Coach's Past Performance
Prior to his arrival in Denton, Bloesch spent five seasons at Tulsa, the final four as their OL coach. He coached four offensive lineman to seven American Athletic Conference honors during his tenure, including four first-team nods. In 2016, Tulsa set an NCAA record by becoming the first FBS school to have a 3,000-yard passer, two 1,000-yard rushers and two 1,000-yard receivers in the same season. The team posted eight 300-plus yard rushing games.
