Coach Robert Livingston is in his first season with the Colorado Buffaloes and first season coaching in college, coming to CU from the Cincinnati Bengals. He has rejuvenated the CU defense and the Buffs have seen not only a dramatic improvement in the win-loss column (8-3 currently, 4-8 in 2023), but in most areas of the defense. CU has given up 18 fewer touchdowns, allowed 106.5 fewer yards per game overall, 73 fewer in the passing and 33.5 fewer in rushing, over last season. CU has nine more sacks than this point last year, given up nine fewer penalties and seen improvement in all areas. CU leads the Big 12 in fumble recoveries (ninth nationally), sacks (9th nationally) and tackles for loss (14th nationally) and through week 12 was one of only three teams to force 10 turnovers each by fumble and interception. His safety unit has excelled this season with award candidates Cam'Ron Silmon-Craig and Shilo Sanders both leading the way as one of the best safety tandems in college football.
