Tyson Summers has led one of the top defenses in CUSA and nationally this season. WKU ranks second in CUSA and 35th nationally in scoring defense with just 21.1 points allowed per game, and the Hilltoppers have allowed just 16.4 points per game since the opener at Alabama. WKU's defense has two games this season where it hasn't allowed a touchdown. WKU ranks first in CUSA and third nationally in red zone defense this year, and the Hilltoppers are third in CUSA and 21st nationally in turnovers gained, after leading the country in defensive touchdowns combined over the 2022 and 2023 seasons.
