Special Teams Coordinator/Running Backs

Conference: Sun Belt

Coach Stats

Why should this nominee be considered for the Broyles Award?
Haines has directed a field-goal unit that is a perfect 15-for-15 on field goals and 42-for-42 on PATs this year. App State’s kick return unit is 16th in average return (26.5 ypr), including a 100-yard touchdown by Jalen Virgil at Miami. The punt coverage unit ranks 38th in the country. As running backs coach, with injuries to the top three running backs at various times throughout the season, App State is still managing to rank 35th nationally in rushing offense (194.2 ypg). In their helping with pass coverage, they help the team rank seventh nationally in fewest sacks allowed (0.9 per game).
Coach's Past Performance
Last year, Haines’ running backs helped the Mountaineers rank top 10 in the country in rushing offense, and App State was the only school in the country with four running backs to eclipse 500 yards each. Before App State, he was the special teams coordinator, recruiting coordinator and tight ends coach for the last 10 seasons at Ohio University.
