Bryant Haines is the Defensive Coordinator/Linebackers Coach for James Madison who to date has a 9-0 overall record and, 6-0 conference record, including 8-0 vs. FBS foes. James Madison’s defense coordinated by Bryant Haines leads the nation in the following categories: 1st in rushing defense (59.7), yards per carry allowed (1.95), sacks (4.56) and tackles for loss (10.2). Interceptions (11) is t-14th,  First-Down Defense (16.6) is tied for 15th, Red-Zone Defense (.750) is tied for 19th and total defense (325.6) is tied for 35th in the nation. He has help coach Jalen Green (Defense End #10) who leads the nation with 15.5 Sacks and 21.0 Tackles for Loss. His defense has several semifinalists and watchlist for national awards: James Carpenter (Burlsworth Trophy; Bronko Nagurski Trophy; Outland Trophy), D’Angelo Ponds (Shaun Alexander Freshmen of the Year), and Jalen Green (Chuck Bednarik Award).
