Why should this nominee be considered for the Broyles Award?
Washington has led the nation in passing offense virtually all season. Currently, the Huskies are #1, with 374.0 yards per game. UW is also #3 in first downs, #4 in 3rd-down conv., and #8 in total offense.In the new staff’s first season at Washington, the Huskies are ranked No. 15 and are 8-2, after a 4-8 season in 2021. UW QB Michael Penix Jr., a transfer from Indiana in his first year at UW, leads the nation in passing. He has 3,640 yards, second-most in UW history (with at least three games to play) and has passed for 300 yards in nine of 10 games (in the other, he had 298).
Coach's Past Performance
In 2021 as OC at Fresno State, Bulldogs were 9th in the nation in passing offense and 14th in total offense. In 2020, the Bulldogs were 5th in the FBS in pass offense and reached 400 yards of total offense in every game. In 2018, as Fresno State’s o-line coach, the line allowed just 0.86 sacks per game, 6th in the nation. As o-line coach at Eastern Michigan, EMU was also in the top-10 in the nation in fewest sacks allowed and shattered the school record for total offense in a season. At Sioux Falls, he coached two NAIA Players of the Year.
