In his first year with the Wolfpack program, Beck has turned the Wolfpack offense into a force to be reckoned with. After finishing the season with one ACC win in 2019 before Beck’s arrival, NC State has 6 wins and has a chance for 8. Even though his starting QB was lost for the season, the offense has still been successful with the backup – who has shown improvement throughout the course of the season. The Wolfpack has beaten two ranked opponents and all three losses have come to ranked opponents. Members of his offense have won 10 ACC Player of the Week honors this season.
Under his guidance, Texas’ offense ranked among the nation’s most prolific. In 2019, the Longhorns ranked 17th nationally in scoring (35.2 ppg), 17th in completion percentage (.651), 20th in passing offense (289.3), 12th in red zone offense (.920), and 14th in total offense (465.8). Mentored Longhorn QB Sam Ehlinger, who posted some of the top marks nationally in 2019, ranking fourth nationally in total offense, ninth in passing yards and 13th in touchdown passes in the regular season. He was the sixth Longhorn quarterback, and first since Colt McCoy (2006-09) to rush for 1,000 yards. At Ohio State, the Buckeyes fielded one of the top offenses in the nation in 2016 en route to an 11-2 record and an appearance in the College Football Playoff. OSU ranked 14th in the FBS in scoring offense with an average of 39.4 points per game in 2016. The rushing attack ranked 12th nationally at 245.2 yards per game, which led the Big Ten, while the team’s completion percentage (62.3%) also led the conference. Coached quarterback J.T. Barrett, who set the school record for touchdowns responsible for with 100. At Nebraska, A nominee for the Broyles Award as the nation’s top assistant coach in both 2012 and 2013. Between 2011-14, Beck’s Nebraska offenses ranked among the best in the Big Ten Conference and his passing attack amassed more than 10,000 yards during that time with 86 touchdowns. At Kansas,The Jayhawks finished second nationally in scoring offense in 2007 (42.8 ppg), eighth in total offense (479.8 ypg) and 17th in passing (291.0 ypg) and went 12-1 with a 24-21 victory over Virginia Tech in the FedEx Orange Bowl and a final national ranking of No. 7.
Under Beck’s guidance, the offense has increased its points per game average from 22.1 in 2019 to 31.4 this season.After ranking 101st in in passing touchdowns (14) in 12 games last season before he joined the staff, the Pack has 19 (to rank 15th) in just nine games.
